Such great cars... such unfortunate suspension alignments.

That Merc W124 is gorgeous, though...

Almost as cool as an R129 front end conversion.

Imagine that blue over saddle leather car, with this R129 grille and 4-beam projector headlights , all painted and finished properly, with a tuned 300SL-spec engine, and 6-speed manual and a limited slip diff, and some AMG bits thrown in...

Some nice AMG wheels, monoblock, or multi-piece... good stuff.

I love the clears! They aren’t altezzas, you can’t see a million details from the bulbs and stuff, it’s all very soft focus and even. I think it’s done well.

I had a W126 where I installed these type of clear corners with Euro lights, and regretted it, too boy-racer after awhile. This was in 2003, when that was a thing.  As I get older (and I was in my mid 20s then), I like my cars closer to stock.

looks good either way, but that wide, low, slicked-back look, with the emblem in the grille, rather than the hood ornament, is a distinctive MB performance-oriented look.

I didn’t know that either, until I saw that picture online a while back ... the image said Lotec conversion on it... otherwise I know little about the conversion of putting an R129 front “clip” on a W124 E-class... but it definitely looks like a W124 coupe , not a wider, bigger C126 SEC. The 300 CE did use the same I6 engine as the R129 300SL... and the E-class AMG Hammer used the SL’s AMG V8 as a retrofit , as well.
